Sonoma Valley AVA Merlot 2012 Simi Winery

Simi Winery's Merlot was born in the beautiful vineyards of Sonoma Valley in northern California.

This wine is mainly produced with Merlot grapes and with Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec grapes, harvested between the first and last ten days of September. After maceration and fermentation in steel, the wine is left to mature for 14 months in French and American oak barrels, partly new, to refine its characteristics and develop an important body.

It proposes a garnet red color with small ruby reflections. The nose brings a spectacular odorous complexity, as the fruity notes of blackberry and plum are combined with spicy notes of cocoa and nutmeg, then moving on to a light hint of laurel. In the mouth it shows a great structure supported by a good acidity and a soft tannin that facilitates drinking. The finish is persistent with hints of toasted bread and vanilla that leave pleasant sensations.
