Description
Spier's Pinotage Vintage Selection is the best expression of the Pinotage variety, typical of the South African area of Stellenbosh where the winery is located. The cross between Cinsault and Pinot Noir made in the first half of the 1900s has become part of the local winemaking tradition and finds some interesting expressions such as this one, signed by a historical name of South African viticulture.
The grapes, 100% Pinotage, are harvested manually to allow the best selection of the bunches. After destemming, the grapes are left to rest cold for a couple of days in steel tanks. It carries out alcoholic fermentation in steel and malolactic fermentation in both French and American oak barrels. Within them, the wine ages for 14 months.
At the sight it affirms itself in a ruby red hue, with bright purple reflections. It affects the nose with the intensity of a crunchy red fruit, chocolate and roasted coffee. In the mouth it is robust but balanced, with the right tannic texture and good freshness.
Ideal in combination with a cheese appetizer.
