Description

What kind of wine is it

Mantele by Nals Margreid is a white wine made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes produced in Nalles, South Tyrol. Fermentation in wooden barrels and ageing for several months on the fine lees define a precise technical style, offering freshness, lively tension, and linear persistence. It is suitable for those seeking a structured yet approachable white wine.

Where does it come from

It originates in Nalles, South Tyrol, from vineyards located between 330 and 400 meters in altitude. The east- and southeast-facing parcels are situated on an alluvial cone around 150 meters deep, composed of calcareous gravel and porphyry debris. The sub-Mediterranean climate, with warm days and cool nights, supports a balanced ripening and aromatic vibrancy, while the draining soil contributes to the savoury drive.

How is it made

The grapes are harvested by hand. After a brief pre-fermentation maceration, the must ferments for about three weeks in wooden barrels. This is followed by several months of ageing on the fine lees, a process that provides depth and structure without losing the typical freshness of Sauvignon Blanc, maintaining expressive continuity and aromatic definition.

Tasting notes

In the glass, it displays an intense and brilliant straw yellow. On the nose, it evokes exotic fruit and citrus, with hints of lemon peel and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is crisp, vibrant, and savoury, with a progression that highlights its mineral and citrus elements, finishing consistently dry and precise.

Food pairings

It pairs naturally with pumpkin risottos, pasta with pesto, and vegetarian dishes rich in aromatic herbs. Its freshness and savoury character help balance the vegetal components and keep the sip agile, without overpowering the wine’s main aromas.

When to serve it

It is ideal when you’re looking for a white wine with character, precision, and vibrancy—perfect for everyday meals or pairings with herb-based and vegetarian dishes. Served chilled, it enhances the aromatic brightness and gustatory tension, leaving a clear and persistent finish.
