Description
What kind of wine it is
This Gewürztraminer from Elena Walch comes from 100% Gewürztraminer grapes, hand-harvested in the Kastelaz vineyard. It stands out for the varietal’s hallmark aromatic intensity, with a full, enveloping and well-structured profile.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Kastelaz vineyard, in the municipality of Termeno on the Wine Road, in the province of Bolzano, an area particularly suited to cultivating Gewürztraminer.
How it is made
After hand harvesting, the grapes undergo a brief maceration on the skins, followed by pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 18°C. The wine then ages for an extended period on its lees before bottling.
Tasting notes
The color is an intense golden yellow. On the nose it opens with a full, enveloping bouquet, with hints of rose, lychee and dried fruit, enriched by spicy notes of cinnamon, cloves and honey. On the palate it is complex, full and rounded, with pleasant freshness and structure leading to an intense aromatic finish.
Food pairings
Perfect with molluscs and crustaceans, particularly langoustines and lobsters. It also pairs beautifully with Asian cuisine and blue cheeses.
When to serve
Serve at 10-12°C, in a large-bowled glass that enhances its aromatic richness. Thanks to its structure and intensity, it works well both alongside flavorful dishes and for social occasions, bringing out its spicy and floral notes to best effect.
