Swartland WO Secateurs Red Blend 2019 Badenhorst Family Wines

The Secateurs Red Blend by Badenhorst Family Wine is a South African wine produced in the northern mountain area of Paardeberg with Cinsault, Grenache and Shiraz grapes.

Low yields and calcareous soils ensure quality grapes. The grapes are carefully harvested and after pressing in concrete containers fermentation begins for two weeks. Once the blend is made, the wine ages for 12 months in various types of containers including concrete and vats with subsequent filtering.

The result is a ruby red wine of great intensity characterized by vibrant hints of red fruits, peppery notes and sweet spices. On the palate it offers an intriguing and complex texture with fruity returns, soft tannins and a medium-long finish.

To be paired with loin of veal, braised meats and first courses with meat sauce, it is excellent with aged cheeses and cured meats.
