Description

The Tokaji Sárgamuskotály 5 Puttonyos Aszú comes from the Tokaj wine region of Hungary. This wine is the result of a limited production, obtained exclusively from the grapes grown in the 28 hectares of property, harvested manually in different ripening periods between September and December.

For winemaking, the must obtained from dried and botrytised grapes is used. The process involves a 24-hour maceration and controlled fermentation in stainless steel, followed by a slow 2-week fermentation in barrel. Aging takes place in 25-30 year old 250 liter barrels for 19 years, during which the wine is periodically decanted.

The color of the wine is a deep amber, with an intense and mature aroma dominated by notes of yellow flowers and honey, enriched by apple compote, quinces, a touch of medicinal herbs and the characteristic hint of toasted dried fruit and tobacco due to the barrel aging. On the palate, the structure is marked by high acidity which balances the full body and oily texture. The flavors reflect the aroma, with additions of tobacco, honeycomb, toasted dried fruit, medicinal herbs and a metallic mineral aftertaste.

This Tokaji pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes, from appetizer to dessert. It is particularly suitable for accompanying blue cheeses, foie gras, white meat dishes with sweet sauces and caramelized fruit, or can simply be enjoyed as a meditation wine at the end of the meal.
