Description
What kind of wine it is
Toscana Rosso Belnero by Banfi is a red wine made primarily from Sangiovese blended with other complementary grape varieties. It stands out for structure and complexity, with balanced tannins that bring harmony to the palate. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel ensures freshness and aromatic precision, while aging in barrique adds depth and softness. The result is an elegant profile with potential for evolution.
Where it comes from
Belnero originates between the Orcia and Ombrone rivers, on the southern slopes of Montalcino. This area has a long-standing tradition of viticulture and offers ideal conditions for growing vines thanks to its location and heritage.
How it is produced
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 24–26°C, with maceration on the skins for 8–12 days to extract balanced color and tannins. The wine is then aged in barrique for 14 months, followed by a period in bottle that completes the process and brings stability and harmony.
Tasting notes
Intensely deep mauve-red in appearance. The bouquet reveals notes of vanilla, tobacco, and coffee, enriched by hints of cherries and plums. On the palate, it offers a full structure with integrated tannins. The finish is harmonious, with lingering fruit and a gentle spicy touch.
Food pairings
This Tuscan red pairs beautifully with grilled red meats such as tagliata or ribeye steak and regional dishes like pappardelle with wild boar ragù. It also goes well with rustic soups such as ribollita or pappa al pomodoro and complements mature cheeses, especially aged Tuscan pecorino. Its structure and complexity make it a match for flavorful combinations.
When to serve it
To showcase its character, Belnero is enjoyable young but also develops greater complexity and softer tannins with bottle aging. It is best served in wide glasses to enhance its aromatic qualities.
