Description

At the beginning of the 90s, Angelo Gaja bought a farm on via Bolgherese, which he named Ca 'Marcanda in memory of the grueling negotiations with the previous owners. The vineyards enjoy an exceptional, sunny and Mediterranean climate, always mitigated by the breeze of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The wine is a blend of Merlot and Syrah with a small balance of Sangiovese. The grapes are rigorously selected in the vineyard and then checked in the cellar before proceeding to fermentation with maceration on the skins. The wine ages for 18 months in French oak barriques.

Dark red in color, it gives ripe aromas of blueberry, black currant, wild blackberries, balsamic hints and aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean scrub. Warm and enveloping, it has a soft and rich sip, which closes in a harmonious and persistent way.
