Toscana IGT Rosso Lama della Villa 2014 Fattoria di Lamole
Description
The Tuscan red wine Lama della Villa is produced by the Fattoria di Lamole winery, which has been owned by the Socci family for centuries. It is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico, in Greve in Chianti, in the province of Florence. Lamole is a small area on the slopes of Monte San Michele, where the "Lamulae" have for centuries been called the plots of flat land on a steep slope.
It is a pure Sangiovese whose grapes are vinified in steel or concrete tanks, where they remain for 12 months. Subsequently the wine continues ageing in exhausted French barriques for 12–24 months, which continues in the bottle for another 12 months.
Ruby red in colour with garnet reflections, it has a nose reminiscent of violet, cherry and red plum, as well as delicate spices. The sip is broad, fine and balanced, with a long persistence.
It is an excellent wine in combination with typical Tuscan dishes, such as tagliatelle with wild boar ragout and beef stew with olives and rosemary.
