Description
Lodovico is a red wine from Tenuta del Nicchio, produced from the vineyard of the same name located in Bibbona, in the province of Livorno. This blend is mainly made up of Cabernet Franc with a small percentage of Petit Verdot, cultivated on soils composed of clay and Bolgheri conglomerate.
The grapes are hand-selected on a vibrating table before destemming. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel for a period of 3-4 weeks at a temperature of 28°C, while 80% of the mass undergoes malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The wine matures for 16 months in French oak barriques, 80% of which are new and the remaining 20% are second-fill.
In appearance, it displays a deep red color. The aromatic profile is dominated by dark fruit notes, particularly black currant, accompanied by cedar hints imparted by barrel aging. On the palate, it is full-bodied, structured, and endowed with elegant tannins, showing a great overall harmony.
Ideal in pairing with light appetizers, pasta with vegetable or seafood sauces, and fried vegetables or fish.
