Description

The Toscana Mediterra from Poggio al Tesoro, the winery of Marilisa Allegrini, originates from the Le Sondraie vineyard, located in the Livorno municipality of Castagneto Carducci, in Tuscany. It is predominantly made with Syrah grapes and partly with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, all harvested manually during the first 10 days of September and selected using a sorting table.

After gentle pressing of the grapes, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26-28°C for about 12 days. It is followed by malolactic fermentation and an aging period of 8 months in second-used barriques.

The wine has an intense ruby red color. The nose offers delightful fruity aromas of blackberry, plum, and cherry, enriched by spicy notes of pepper. On the palate, it is rich and complex, with a pleasant and easy drinkability.

Perfect for accompanying meat dishes, cured meats, and medium-aged cheeses, this red wine also lends itself to being served slightly chilled alongside elaborate fish courses.
