Description
What kind of wine is it
Toscana Rosso di Bertinga is a red wine made from a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot grown in the heart of Chianti Classico. The profile reveals a solid structure and a balanced tannic texture, reflecting the meeting of the two grape varieties. Fermentation takes place in steel and cement, followed by aging in French oak barriques and Austrian oak tonneaux for about 18 months, allowing the character to develop and depth to emerge.
Where it comes from
The Chianti Classico area offers red wines with structure and great aging potential.
How it is produced
Fermentation takes place in steel and cement. The wine ages for eighteen months in barriques and tonneaux, followed by a further twelve months of bottle aging.
Tasting notes
The color is an intense purple-red with violet highlights. On the nose, aromas of ripe black fruits, vegetal notes, spices, and aromatic herbs arise. The palate offers a full and embracing sip, with dense tannins, good acidity, and a persistent finish recalling fruity and spicy notes.
Pairings
This structured red beautifully complements hearty first courses such as pappardelle with wild boar ragù and lasagna. It enhances grilled red meats and pairs well with aged cheeses, especially Tuscan pecorino. It also finds its place alongside traditional dishes like ribollita, with its structure providing an interesting contrast to savory flavors.
When to serve it
It is recommended to serve at a cool room temperature in large glasses to enhance aeration. The wine is ready to drink and shows aging potential, evolving for years if bottles are stored horizontally in the cellar with stable temperature and humidity. Ideal for significant gatherings and complex pairings.
