Description

What kind of wine is it?

Lallera by Borgo San Frediano is a Tuscan red made from a careful blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. This wine stands out for its full yet well-balanced style, offering a defined tannic texture and a clear aromatic complexity. Fermentation in stainless steel and subsequent aging in barriques help to define a harmonious profile, where fruit notes are precisely integrated with spicy hints.

Where does it come from?

The grapes for this Tuscan blend grow on soils of Eocene origin, characterized by a remarkable presence of limestone and marl. This particular soil composition imparts the wine with a solid structure and measured gustatory balance, and enhances the definition of the tannic component. The label's name is a tribute to a famous song by the Florentine chansonnier Riccardo Marasco, firmly linking the bottle to the spirit and cultural identity of Florence.

How is it made?

The clusters are carefully selected and vinified separately to highlight the qualities of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins take place in stainless steel to extract color and aromatic heritage. Then, malolactic fermentation occurs in traditional cement vats. Maturation continues for twelve months in barriques, a period useful to harmonize the solid structure and the varied aromatic nuances.

Tasting notes

In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby color and opens with a bouquet dominated by clear scents of black berries. Elegant aromas of licorice and tobacco develop on the nose, accompanied by spicy nuances and light herbal hints typical of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. On the palate it is full and well-balanced, supported by well-integrated tannins that drive a persistent and composed tasting experience.

Food pairings

Lallera naturally enhances main courses based on flavorful red meats and selections of aged cheeses. Its dark fruit profile and spicy undertones create a pleasant synergy with grilled dishes and roasts. At the table it perfectly accompanies local earthy recipes and is particularly recommended with the classic bistecca alla fiorentina, where the balanced tannic texture skillfully supports the intense and succulent flavors of the dish.

When to serve it

This red is perfect for enhancing main meals where structure and balance are sought, especially alongside hearty menus and bold flavors. It's the right bottle to savor aromas of black fruit, tobacco, and well-defined spices from the very first sip. Aging in barriques gives it a character ready for tasting but also ensures a pleasant evolution with proper bottle aging, suiting different drinking preferences.
