Description
What kind of wine is it
Torricella Toscana by Ricasoli 1141 is a Tuscan white wine mainly made from Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. It features a rich and complex structure, offering freshness and generous flavour: the citrus profile is balanced by vanilla nuances and balsamic hints. The winemaking process includes cryomaceration followed by temperature-controlled fermentation. The wine matures partly in wood and partly in steel, then ages in bottle, achieving harmony between aromatic energy and substance.
Where it comes from
This Toscana comes from vineyards on the hills of Siena, in the heart of Tuscany. The hillside origin gives the wine a well-defined character, melding freshness and citrus notes with softer sensations supported by partial wood aging. The deep bond with the Sienese hills is a key element of the distinctively Tuscan personality of this label.
How it is produced
The grapes are carefully selected both in the vineyard and in the cellar; after harvest, they undergo cryomaceration for 12–16 hours. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, between 12–16 °C, and lasts 25–30 days, preserving aromatic precision and pure expression. The wine matures for 6 months, half in barrels and half in steel, then completes its integration with a further 3–4 months of bottle aging before release.
Tasting notes
In the glass it shows a straw-yellow colour. On the nose, citrus notes of mandarin and grapefruit emerge, followed by warm tones of vanilla and balsamic and fruity nuances, all neatly arranged. The palate is fresh and pleasant, broad and structured, with a harmonious fruity finish. The aftertaste is long and persistent, echoing the sensations perceived on the nose.
Pairings
It pairs well with first courses based on fish or vegetables, where freshness and structure complement sauces and textures without feeling heavy. It is also a good match for fish and white meats, thanks to its citrus profile and lasting taste. At the table, it enhances dishes such as seafood pasta, highlighting both its fresh component and the softer notes developed during maturation.
When to serve
It can be served chilled and immediately, when you want a crisp, vibrant white that conveys citrus and freshness straight away. Thanks to its rich and complex structure and barrel-steel maturation, it is also suitable for long aging. Serving it chilled brings out its citrusy soul and makes it enjoyable on the palate, without losing breadth or persistence.
