Description
What kind of wine is it?
Trentino Chardonnay Ritratti by La-Vis is a still white wine made from Chardonnay grapes grown on the Avisiane Hills in Trentino. It features a rich flavor profile supported by mineral freshness, which upholds its structure. Fermentation and aging in French oak barriques add complexity and a slight spiciness, resulting in a style that remains elegant and versatile, suitable even for more structured dishes.
Where does it come from?
The grapes come from the Avisiane Hills, in the Pressano area north of Trento, at altitudes between 270 and 330 meters. South and southwest exposures ensure good sunlight and significant temperature variations, promoting regular ripening and pure aromas. The deep, fertile clay-loam soils with good drainage and biological vitality contribute to a balanced and intense profile, with noticeable minerality.
How is it made?
The harvest is done by hand with careful selection of the bunches to ensure integrity. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in French oak barriques, where the wine matures and develops structure and complexity. Integration of fruit, light toasted notes, and creamy texture results from precise technical control, avoiding excessive oxidation to maintain clarity and precision.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it appears golden with greenish highlights. The nose reveals aromas of exotic fruits and citrus, enhanced by elegant smoky nuances and hints of wood. On the palate, it is rich and mineral, with a soft entry, full mid-palate, and a progression supported by freshness. The finish is long, enveloping, and creamy, with citrus notes and a saline hint inviting another sip.
Food pairing
This Chardonnay pairs well with elaborate fish dishes such as baked shellfish or turbot in sauce, and accompanies delicate white meats like free-range chicken or rabbit. Its structure and creaminess suit risottos, pasta with seafood or vegetables, and medium-aged cheeses. Locally, it matches butter and sage dumplings or mountain trout; among traditional dishes, creamed cod enhances its saline component and the finesse of oak.
When to serve it
Chardonnay is ideal for a gourmet aperitif or at the table for those seeking balance, volume, and aromatic precision. Serve it chilled, around 10–12°C, in a large glass to highlight the fruity, smoky notes and creaminess. It is enjoyable young for its freshness, but aging in barrique allows for good evolution: with proper storage, the profile becomes more complex and integrated within a few years.
