Description
What kind of wine is it?
Pinot Nero Ritratti by La-Vis is a still red wine from Trentino made from Pinot Nero grapes. It is characterized by an elegant and precise style, with a medium body and a fine tannic texture. Fermentation takes place in open tonneaux and aging continues in French oak barriques, processes that enhance complexity without overshadowing the typical varietal characteristics. The profile combines fruity notes and spicy nuances, offering poise at the table.
Where does it come from?
The grapes come from the hilly area of Pressano, in the heart of Trentino, at about 380 meters above sea level. The western exposure encourages a gradual ripening and a distinct aromatic definition in the cooler vintages. The loamy-clay soils are deep and well-drained, providing a water reserve that consistently sustains the vines. The vineyard’s management protects biodiversity and soil vitality and contributes to the finesse of the local Pinot Nero.
How is it produced?
The grapes are harvested by hand, with bunch selection in the vineyard to preserve their integrity. After destemming, fermentation proceeds slowly in open tonneaux, small barrels that allow controlled skin contact for delicate extraction of color and tannins. Aging continues in French oak barriques; the wine stabilizes and its structure becomes more harmonious. The aim remains to preserve the varietal profile of Pinot Nero.
Tasting notes
In the glass, it displays a bright ruby red color, with transparency and vibrant reflections typical of Pinot Nero. The bouquet offers hints of cherry, raspberry, and wild berries, with delicate spicy notes from the wood aging. On the palate, it’s smooth and velvety, with well-integrated acidity and fine tannins. The progression is straightforward and the finish is long and harmonious, with lingering red fruit and sweet spice notes.
Food pairings
This Pinot Nero pairs well with roast or braised white meats, mushroom-based dishes, and medium-aged cheeses. The balance between freshness and tannins also suits Trentino-style rabbit and pasta with forest sauces. Among traditional recipes, canederli with mushrooms create a natural pairing: the dish’s aromatic character enhances the wine’s red fruit and spice, leaving the palate fresh.
When to serve it
Pinot Nero Ritratti is perfect for many occasions, from a weekend lunch to a casual dinner, when a smooth and elegant red is desired. It is best served at 14–16 °C in a large glass. Brief decanting can help bring out its spicy notes. It is ready to drink now and offers good aging potential if stored properly, maintaining aromatic precision and silky tannins over the years.
