Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina DOC Cardinal de Retz Riserva 2004 Marchesi Gondi
Description
The Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina Riserva Cardinal de Retz dei Marchesi Gondi was born in the vineyards located on the Villa Bossi estate in Tuscany. The name is taken from a family ancestor, Bishop and Cardinal of Paris, who went down in history as Cardinal de Retz.
It is produced from pure Trebbiano grapes, harvested and selected manually between late September and early October. These grapes are kept for about 3 months and left to dry in an attic room. Subsequently the wine ferments and ages for 9 years before being bottled.
Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina Riserva Cardinal de Retz is characterized by an intense amber color, with slight tawny hues. The nose opens with a complex and broad bouquet in the soft aromas of walnut, almond, dried fig, caramel, candied fruit, dried apricot, date and chestnut honey. This Vin Santo has a slightly ethereal sweet spicy finish. On the palate it is elegant and soft, with a very long finish.
Ideal to serve with chocolate desserts and cream ice cream, it is excellent with dry almond pastries.
