Description

What type of wine is it?

Vino de la Tierra de Ibiza Blanc by Can Rich is an organic white wine made from Malvasía and Moscatel Grano Menudo grapes grown in Ibiza. The style emphasizes freshness, precise aromatics, and easy drinking, with a fragrant and well-defined profile. Fermentation and aging take place exclusively in stainless steel, with no wood involvement, keeping the varietal character clear. The wine has medium body and balance, suitable for appetizers and meals, with a lively acidity that provides good structure.

Where does it come from?

The grapes are sourced from the vineyards of Can Rich and Can Llaudis in the heart of the Balearic Islands. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers, sea breezes, and mild winters that help preserve acidity and ensure even ripening. The soils are poor in limestone and finely textured, with good water retention: this limits vigor and concentrates floral and citrus aromas. The island setting and local tradition guide a clean and straightforward profile.

How is it produced?

Production follows the principles of organic farming, with great attention to grape health and the balance between vegetation and production. Harvesting occurs at aromatic ripeness to support fresh aromas and a lively palate. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, helping to preserve the most volatile compounds and reduce oxidation. Ageing continues in steel, with a possible brief stay on the fine lees to enhance roundness and stability, while keeping an essential style with no woody notes.

Tasting notes

On sight, it appears straw yellow with greenish highlights, clear and bright, reflecting its fresh steel vinification. On the nose, it offers aromatic intensity with lemon and mandarin peel, followed by pear and white nectarine, plus Mediterranean flowers accented with fennel and chamomile. The palate is broad and juicy, lively and supported by balanced acidity and a saline character reminiscent of its maritime origins. The finish is clean, refreshing, and persistent, on citrus and floral notes.

Pairings

Pairs well with light appetizers and dishes that highlight delicacy and freshness, such as aromatic salads, fish carpaccio, and vegetable tempura. With grilled white fish it finds natural balance thanks to its acidity and crisp finish, also ideal with shellfish and mollusks. In Spanish cuisine, it accompanies seafood tapas and paella de marisco, where its citrusy and salty notes highlight the rice and seafood. Also suited to fresh cheeses and dishes with Mediterranean herbs, provided they are not overly spicy.

When to serve it

Perfect for informal occasions and seafood dinners, but it also stands up to a full meal thanks to its structure and smoothness. Best served at 8–10 °C in a medium-sized glass to enhance its citrus and floral aromas. The wine shows best within the first two years after release, though a brief evolution can round out the palate. Also excellent as an aperitif wine in warmer seasons, when its refreshing finish is especially pleasant.
