Description
The Contesa dei Venti by Donnafugata is a pure Nero d’Avola that originates in the Acate Estate, on a hilly territory characterized by sandy soils with calcareous substrates in southeastern Sicily. The good temperature excursions and sea breeze contribute to an ideal microclimate for the ripening of the grapes, giving the wine an elegant and distinctive aromatic profile.
The vinification takes place in steel, with maceration on the skins at a controlled temperature. Once the malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine ages for about eight months in a tank, followed by further aging in the bottle for at least fifteen months, to develop harmony and complexity.
In appearance, it shows a bright ruby red color. On the nose, it offers a fragrant bouquet with floral notes of violet, red fruits like cherry and currant, spicy hints of black pepper and aromatic herbs such as sage. On the palate, it is fresh, harmonious, with soft tannins and a persistent finish that echoes the fruity sensations perceived on the nose.
It pairs perfectly with grilled vegetables and meats, cured meats, and flavorful and slightly spicy fish dishes.
