Calvados is a fruit cider brandy, typically apple or pear, produced in the Calvados department of the same name, located in the heart of Normandy, France. Result of a complex refinement process in tonneaux, barriques and barrels of greater capacity, it can show on the label some abbreviations indicating the time spent in aging: Trois Étoiles, Vieux, VO / VSOP, XO, Extra and Hors d'Age, respectively from a minimum of 2 years to a minimum of 6. The clear and intense aromas of apple exhaled from the calvados invite the combination with fruit desserts, especially if enriched with sweet spices such as cinnamon and vanilla.
