Domaines Ott
Domaines Ott is one of Provence’s most prestigious names, a symbol of great Provençal rosés worldwide. The story begins in 1896, when Marcel Ott, a young Alsatian agricultural engineer, set out in search of a vineyard and, encouraged by his wife Elisabeth, chose Provence. In 1912 he acquired Château de Selle, which he transformed with the aim of producing great wines from noble grape varieties, with a pioneering philosophy based on sustainable viticulture and controlled yields: to do less, but do it better.
In 1932 his son René designed the unmistakable bottle inspired by Provençal cypresses and ancient amphorae, still exclusive to the family today. As early as 1933, after the end of Prohibition, the first bottles of Château de Selle headed for the United States. In the following years the family devoted itself to Clos Mireille, from 1936, and to Château Romassan, from 1956. Since 2004 Domaines Ott has been part of the Roederer Collection.
The three estates tell of three terroirs and two appellations: Château de Selle in Taradeau, in the AOC Côtes de Provence, on chalk, red clays, sandstone and gravel; Clos Mireille in La Londe-les-Maures, with 53 hectares of vineyards on schist and quartz descending to the Mediterranean, within an estate classified as a nature reserve; Château Romassan, an 18th-century residence in Le Castellet, with 83 hectares in the AOC Bandol on limestone, marl and gravel.
Viticulture is organic, with official certification from the 2022 vintage, and integrates practices inspired by biodynamics. Alongside the wines from the three estates, the range includes the signature cuvée Étoile.
A pioneering vision, elegance and Mediterranean light make Domaines Ott an icon of the wines of Provence.
