La Frassina
La Frassina is an agricultural estate in Caorle, in the province of Venice, established in 1940 through the land reclamation of an inland section of the Caorle lagoon, begun by grandfather Mario Pasti and completed by father Francesco. It lies on the edge of the Vallevecchia nature reserve and Valle Zignago, in the Lison-Pramaggiore winegrowing area: an evocative place where human endeavour and nature coexist in balance.
Since 2005, siblings Lucia and Carlo Pasti, joined in 2022 by the young Filippo, have been producing wines with the La Frassina winery that are the fruit of a long viticultural tradition and a unique terroir, in which the salinity of the nearby lagoon can be perceived. Places so enchanting that they even captivated Ernest Hemingway, who, during his hunting trips in 1948, was spellbound and portrayed them in the novel "Across the River and into the Trees".
The soils are alluvial in origin, medium-textured, rich in calcareous clays and natural aggregates of calcium carbonate, which impart elegance and unmistakable aromas. Convinced that wine is born in the vineyard, since 2000 the Pasti family have replanted the vines with Lison, Glera, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, choosing planting densities that ensure deliberately low yields per vine and limiting any intervention that could alter the grapes' typicity.
The range includes Lison DOCG, the white Lia, the rosé Miglio, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon DOC Venezia, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso DOC Lison-Pramaggiore and the reds Ghebo Riserva and Ciaro del Turco.
Quality, sustainability and love for the lagoon: La Frassina authentically conveys the character of the Caorle and Lison-Pramaggiore area.
