Thierry Fournier
Champagne Thierry Fournier is a family-run grower maison from Festigny, in the Vallée de la Marne, today led by the fourth and fifth generation. The estate's history dates back to the 1930s, with the first purchases of vines in Festigny, one of the birthplaces of Meunier.
The house's values are rooted in the bond between Thierry and his grandfather Henri, a man of the land attentive to technical progress and vineyard development, and in the close partnership between Thierry and Murielle Fournier, who for over thirty years have carried the domaine forward with determination, rigor and humility. In 2020 their son Julien joined the company, supported by his brother Maxime, opening a new chapter rich in projects, after the installation in 2007–2008 of a new cellar with temperature-controlled tanks and a state-of-the-art press.
Starting from a few plots in the 1980s, today the vineyard comprises 45 plots across 11 communes, from the historic crus of the Vallée de la Marne such as Festigny, Leuvrigny and Oeuilly through to the Côte des Blancs. Festigny, in the Vallée du Flagot on the left bank of the Marne, stands out for its more chalky soils compared to neighboring terroirs. Meunier plays the leading role, alongside Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, yielding aromatic and structured wines.
The vineyard is farmed with a thoughtful, integrated approach, within a long-term environmental program. In the cellar, time is an ally: every bottle rests for at least four years before disgorgement, a longer-than-average aging, to gain finesse, complexity and structure. New experiments in vinification and aging in oak barrels are also underway.
“Toujours voir le présent en portant notre regard vers l'avenir”: with this spirit, Champagne Thierry Fournier crafts Champagnes of a refined, generous, convivial and balanced style, an authentic expression of Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne.
