Castello dei Rampolla
The Azienda Agricola Castello dei Rampolla was born in 1965 in Santa Lucia in Faulle and since then it has been known as a viticultural excellence of Tuscany. The first Chianti Classico wines were bottled in 1975 and from the 1980s the founder of the Alceo di Napoli Rampolla company decided to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in a land suited to Sangiovese . An unusual choice that will give life to one of the most famous wines of the company, the Sammarco. The second important innovation occurred in the late 90s, with the transition to biodynamic agriculture, a method that pays more attention to all the elements of nature and eliminates the use of chemicals for plant cultivation. The first fruit of this evolution was the D'Alceo red wine, a biodynamic wine that originates from Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grapes. Today, the company continues to operate with this in mind, adopting more sustainable agricultural practices, such as green manuring, which makes the soil richer and more balanced. Thanks to the continuous investment in research and innovation, the name Rampolla has for years been associated with wines of the highest quality, award-winning by international critics.
Rampolla red wine
The Rampolla red wine originates in the locality of Santa Lucia in Faulle, south of Panzano in Chianti. Here is the valley of the "Conca d'Oro", so called because in medieval times it was extremely favorable to the cultivation of wheat. Today it has become an optimal land for wine and has been further enhanced by the Rampolla Company, which cultivates the vineyards in a completely sustainable way, with low-impact treatments and light machinery. The harvest takes place manually and the vinification and aging processes are carried out with a view to preserving the original characteristics of the grapes. Fermentation in cement or terracotta amphorae is followed by aging in cask, for a period ranging from 12 to 18 months, depending on the type of wine. In this way, wines with great personality are obtained, such as D'Alceo, an intense and refined red, with hints of red fruits, which closes with delicate notes of cigar and tobacco. Another iconic wine of the Rampolla production is Sammarco, obtained from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, to which Sangiovese and Merlot grapes are added. A fresh and elegant wine, which on the palate best expresses the typical aromas of the terroir of origin. The best red wines of the Castello dei Rampolla farm are available on Vino.com!
