Description
Summa Edición Limitada is the flagship label of Bodegas Portia, a highly prestigious red wine produced in Ribera del Duero exclusively during extraordinary quality vintages. Made from pure Tempranillo grapes, it comes from the century-old vineyard of Finca Fuentellamas, located in the municipality of Gumiel de Izán at over 850 meters above sea level. The ungrafted vines, grown in extreme conditions of sandy and poor soil, produce small and rare clusters, perfect for intense and long-lasting wines.
The vinification process involves a meticulous approach with alcoholic and malolactic fermentations carried out in untoasted French barrels, allowing the preservation of the grape's aromatic purity. During this phase, the barrels are manually rotated several times a day and subjected to frequent bâtonnage. The wine is then aged for 12 months in the same barrels and subsequently for another 6 months in new barriques, without artificial stabilization, emphasizing the winery's philosophy of minimal intervention.
In the glass, it shows a deep color with garnet reflections. The nose is distinguished by elegance and complexity: ripe black fruits like blackberry, blueberry, and plum blend with spicy, toasted, and herbaceous notes. On the palate, it is balanced, with a well-integrated acidic backbone, fine tannins, and a very persistent and refined finish, where fruit and balsamic aromas blend in perfect harmony.
Ideal to accompany dishes based on game, important roasts, braised meats, or long-aged cheeses.
